October and November Highlights

Artist Spotlight - Halloween edition

Thanks to resources like Listen San Marcos, it is possible to stay updated with what live music events are coming up. This resource also showcases past music moments and has a very useful directory of local musicians and industry members.
This past month of music consisted of many colorful, spooky acts to get San Martians in the holiday spirit. A few notable acts we saw in our city consist of:

Daikaiju

Surf rock group Daikaiju made their way to The Porch on October 23rd. This Houston based Japanese style surf rock band has a rather spooky visual vibe to them. All band members wear masks, creating an onimous effect on watchers and a juxtaposition against their upbeat, beachy sound. These guys tour an impressive amount, so if you could not catch them this past month, it won't be long until another chance arises. Their performances are truly one of a kind and not something to miss.

Attic Ted

Another masked bunch, this group labels themselves a "weirdo cabaret post theatrical synth punk carnival performance art" band - what a mouthful! Their sound is just as maximalist as you'd expect, with hints of 80s synthwave and bits of 90s screamo - a popular sound being eperimented with in the local scene. The lead singer is also a tattoo artist on top of his musical endeavors.

Here is timeline of what a weekend of live music looks like - from 11/13-11/17!
